About climbing
No experience is necessary! All new climbers receive a safety demonstration before climbing (free).
Rocksports provides a multitude of climbs for all levels of ability, from simple kids stuff to the extreme edge of what’s possible. All the climbs are colour coded to indicate the level of difficulty, so even with no experience, it is easy to know where to go and what sort of challenge you can tackle.
A Rocksports instructor will take all participants through a safety demonstration (how to belay) prior to climbing. It’s so easy.
You will need at least two people. As one person scales the wall, your partner will be on the ground controlling the safety rope (belaying). Then you swap places.
Waivers
Everyone who climbs at Rocksports is required to sign a ‘waiver of liability’. If you are under 18 years, this needs to be signed by a parent/guardian. Copies are available for download.
Age issues
At Rocksports any age can climb. Though the person who operates the rope (the belayer) has to be at least 13 years. If you are not climbing, and only belaying, there is only a $2.00 charge.
What to wear
Comfortable, loose fitting pants are best. Tight jeans, skirts and dresses are not suitable. Climbing shoes are highly recommended and are available for hire. No bare feet.
